Performace Dance Group FAQ

+ What costs are involved?

Group classes (over 6 people) are $130 for a 10 hour punchcard. Rehearsals are between 30 - 90 minutes long depeding on the week.

Small groups are $70 divided by the number of participants involved.

Solos are paid for by purchasing private lessons. Private lessons are between $60 - $80 per lesson depending on how many you purchase. That cost can be split if dancing with a student partner.

We try to keep costume costs as low as possible. We have a costume closet, which we add to each year. Costumes can be borrowed/rented from the costume closet. We reuse costumes each year to keep costs down for those who participate often.

Dance/Latin/Ballroom shoes are often suggested. Those will depend on the style/s of dance you are performing.

We're all about the bling. Costume jewlery is great, cheap, and looks great on stage.

Stage make-up is suggested. No special products needed, just darker and more dramatic. Some choose to wear false eye lashes.

+ When/Where do you rehearse?

Large groups typically meet Sunday late afternoon or evening. Small groups and solos discuss schedule with their instructor and schedule when it is convenient.

We meet at our studio, Sway Dance Chicago: 3317 W Irving Park Road

+ When/Where do you perform?

Typically, our performance groups participate in three showcases a year, culminating in our annual stage production each November.

We bounce around for our smaller showcases. Sometimes at local bars, restaurants or event spaces. And, sometimes at our home studio, Sway Dance Chicago: 3317 W Irving Park Road.

Our stage production is always at Hamlin Park Theater: 3035 N Hoyne Avenue.
